It's been a while, been distracted, but this jumped out at me.
The Bush administration has sent Attorney General Mukasey to Iraq to, ahem, "review U.S. efforts to help build the nation's legal system," according to an AP article.
The Bush administration, destroyers of the Fourth Amendment, as corrupt as a festering sore on Roger Clemens' ass, abusers of signing statements, liars, thieves, torturers, defilers of the Supreme Court, and generally a nest of thugs and brutes, advising another country on their legal system? A clone of the Bushies' idea of justice? So, in effect, re-instituting a system not that different from Saddam Hussein's.
Mukasey at a press conference: "I'm encouraged by the work that's being accomplished here...My assessment is that the Iraqis are firmly committed to the notion of the rule of law as distinct from the rule of might, and are committed to the independence of the judiciary."
Wouldn't it be nice if we could say the same in this country? Sending a Bush henchman to fix your legal system is like sending a pedophile to teach kindergarten. The best outcome can't be good.
January 20th, 2009, and this gang of miscreants is out of office, except for the ideologues on the Supreme Court. We are stuck with the Bush I and Bush II kangaroo court for a long time. I look forward to the prosecutions for corruption, lying, contempt of congress and violation of oaths of office for the rest of this scum.
With any luck at all they'll all die in prison.
