I've been around for few years and I've recieved my share of rejection letters.

I'm no longer bothered by form rejections. Not at all. I have a great critique group that gives me wonderful feedback so I know I don't completely suck. And I"ve sold three books.

But why does an agent think they can reject me then try to sell me something?

This is the first time I received a rejection and a list of books to read. This one was a color brochure about a book the agent wrote. That takes gaul. That's all I can say. And no I'm not naming names. Way too small a business for that and I am so much bigger than that.

Have you ever had an agent try to sell you his book after rejecting you?

Worse, I had an agent sell me his book before he'd decided whether or not to represent me (his answer was no). Cheesy is a kind word for it.

Nope. Not naming names.
I have way more class than this person and they won't be getting a query from ever.

OH MY GOD! Talk about nerve! But it gives me an idea for a story. Like how the furious author decides to seek vengeance on his/her agent for that kind of cutzpah! can't you name him? give us a clue?
