Based on requests and my viewing of the forums and blogs, I've decided to create a separate Events section.

Up until now I've been featuring blog posts on the main page that I hope are interesting to Crimespace members. Some of those have included announcements of events or competitions.

It is my stated intention that Crimespace is to be more like the bar at a crime fiction convention, rather than a free-for-all self-promotion fest. I want it to be a community and, as far as I can tell, so do most of its members.

Rather than me trawling through the blogs to pick interesting news items, I'm going to leave it up to Crimespace members to post announcements of conventions, competitions, book signings, and other events on this separate forum.

This is a lot less work for me and helps keep the discussion forum exactly that.

Hardboiled Heroes and Cozy Cats - Dallas TX June 15 & 16, 2007 David Morrell is the keynote speaker and Jerrilyn Farmer the Guest of Honor, but there'll be lots more agents, editors, publicists, authors, fans etc. Don't miss this!
No one's going to read this here, PJ. Click on Start A Discussion and post your info there.

Cheers,
Daniel
I read it! And I live in Fort Worth. And I will have to look this one up!

You actually go through all the blogs? That seems like a lot of work. Thanks for doing this. f course, I'm still generally lost whenever I get here...
It's not too much work, it's a very streamlined process. Only a couple of minutes of my time about twice a day really. It's either that or I remove the blogs from the main page, because I don't think a lot of the posts are relevant: more suited to the personal blogs.

You're lost? That's no good. But I have yet another feature planned to combat that. In time, though, in time.
Thanks for doing all this, Daniel. I like the idea of keeping Events in its own place & having the Forum be the zone for discussion. Easier to find the stuff I wanna read about!

Fer shizzle.
If you look at the top of this post you will see a button for "Start New Discussion." People will actually see this as a separate entry instead of part of the comments thread for Daniel's post that way.
Thanks, Daniel.  I think I have inadvertently been guilty of BSP on a page other than this.  Newbie blues.  This helps a lot.  I mean, What's your sign? (at the bar) is now, What's your blog?
