So who was the guy with the, um, thinning hair, gun-and-target T shirt, and not-from-around-here accent I ran into at the Mysterious Bookshop tonight at the joint launch for Ken Bruen and Jason Starr's latest spoofy noir from Hard Case Crime and Alison Gaylin's new book? Yep, it was our own Daniel Hatadi, accompanied by his lovely girlfriend Mary (partner? wife? never got around to asking). Daniel said he's "never met anyone in person before" and obviously got a kick out of spotting such mystery celebs as Lee Child, Otto Penzler, and Reed Farrel Coleman. Believe it or not, I had to assure him the founder of Crimespace is an international celebrity and that anyone he walked up and introduced himself to would know exactly who he was. Mary took pictures. And if you're American, you don't want to hear the exchange rate for Aussie currency. Thanks to the lousy dollar, New York is tourist paradise right now, so Daniel and Mary might as well make the most of it. :) Welcome to the States, guys, it was great to meet you!

Oh, how nice for Daniel. I know he made a splash as one of the celebrities.
I'm still processing the event today, because I confess to feeling quite nervous. To travel half way across the world and meet all those people while still jet-lagged was pretty overwhelming.

Still, lovely to meet everyone, and photos start here.
OMG! what fun!! loved the pics!
