I was interested in attending.  I don't live far.  Then I saw the $200.00 attendance fee, not to mention the talks, etc. were extra.  A little excessive don't you think, considering the economy and the state of our country?

Jed;

The expense is for all the authors who come and the agents. They have about 8-10 agents and part of the conference is 1. you can have a manuscript critique

                     2. a 5 minute pitch of your novel to an agent

                     3. a good mentoring program

If a person isn't interested in those things, the price doesn't make sense.

I'll be there!  I'm on a panel.  Come and say hi, Mike.

Jed - this conference sold out (for the second year in a row) and it really is a bargain for what you get.  The only extra costs are for the masters classes and the banquet.  The agent pitch is free.  The chance to talk to other people who read and write what you do is priceless.  It's fun.

Hi J.E.

I'll look for you there. Are you attending the pizza party Friday night?

Mike

Why shouldn't an agent pitch be free?  I hope they're not going to start charging us for that. As far as talking to other people who read & write what I do--that's what I'm doing now.  Fun?  For $200.00 it should be.  Charging that kind of dough puts a bad taste in my mouth.  Sorry for the pessimism but I tried similar events back in the 90's.  I didn't like them then & they cost a lot less.  Best,  Jed
