I am putting the finishing touches on my latest novel, a crime thriller called CRYSTAL WHITE. In doing so, I've spent some time trying to come up with a cover. I've narrowed it down to three and decided I needed to reach out and solicit opinions.

Anyone who would like to tell me which of the three covers below would most entice them to pick up this book, or which one they simply like best (a word or two about why or why not would be extremely helpful and appreciated as well) can let me know your opinion by dropping me an email at -- darkroadpub@live.com

The first fifty email responses I receive prior to midnight Friday night EST will receive a Smashwords coupon for a free E-copy of CRYSTAL WHITE when it's released (hopefully) this month.

So, here are the three covers from which to choose:

Simply tell me which one you like best --

1) car in alley

2) man in street

3) explosion

Thank you in advance for leading me a hand, I appreciate the help and support.

All have a pretty good character to them, although I am not sure any really fits perfectly with the title. The explosion one is the most eye-catching, but it also might come off as a tad too forward. I suppose my favorite would be the "man in street" one. I'm not totally sold on the arranging of the author name and title. I prefer the way the other 2 have the title/author written. But in terms of graphics, I think the man in the street is the most mysterious.

Just my two cents from somebody who knows nothing about what sells. :)

David,

Definitely, for me, "car in alley."  I don't know what the book is about but the title hints to me about a drug connotation.  So #1 fits nicely.  I'd be more likely to pick it up with that cover even though it might be about something else.  I also prefer the type color and layout in #1.

Best,

Jed

Thanks to everyone who's responded so far. I'm getting great feedback and I really appreciate it.

Also, for those who have asked, the swirl on the car in the alley cover is a watermark--I haven't purchased the artwork yet. It will not be in the final picture should I choose to use that one.

Thanks again everyone.

The explosion is the most eyecatching but perhaps the title could be larger. Not sure about the green for your name - use white maybe?

Explosion suggests fast paced adventure thriller but for me the man in the street is more likely to appeal as this suggests a dark psychological thriller - though again the title needs to be bigger. So which is best depends on which the book is.

Thank you everyone for helping me out with trying to choose the cover art for my latest novel
CRYSTAL WHITE.

Interestingly, the "votes" were evenly split between the first two pictures--the car in the the alley (five votes) and the man in the street (six votes) and with the explosion only getting 3 votes. Ultimately, I decided to use the car in the alley cover art, mainly because I felt the text showed up better than in the man in the street cover. And I ultimately rejected the explosion one because IMO it didn't reflect the feel I was going for, (it was too Mack Bolan for my taste). Here is the final version I came up with.

Thanks again, your input and comments were quite helpful and much appreciated. BTW, I did purchase the man in the street art, so that will appear on a future project, once I can finagle the text colors to "pop".

For those who responded I will e-mail your Smashwords.com coupon code for a free copy of CRYSTAL WHITE shortly.

For everyone else, CRYSTAL WHITE is currently available for purchase at Amazon.com, BN.com, and of course Smashwords. com.

Happy reading

David, while the second two are beautiful, you don't get the sense of Crystal White (which I presume is a drug or prostitute) and the sense of threatening danger. The lack of color in cover one (car in alley) brings up danger, secrecy, and a place where crime easily happens. I vote for Car In Alley!

Thanks, P.I.

That is the one I ultimately chose. It's up and available for sale through all the major e-pub markets. Thanks for your input. It is most appreciated.

David
