Albany, NY is so close to New Jersey, I can drive to Bouchercon this year on a tank of gas and a six-pack of Dos Equis. Hard not to go. I've already registered and I may throw some kind of party involving Spinetingler, Down & Out Books (Austin Carr's new publisher) and/or free alcohol and food. Anybody else going?
From the website linked above:
The Anthony Awards are given out annually at Bouchercon. The nominating ballots for the 2013 Anthony Awards have been e-mailed to most registered attendees, as of 3/2/13. Others will receive ballots as their registration is processed. If you have Anthony Award questions,
Bouchercon gives out the Anthony Awards, named after Anthony Boucher, to recognize the best in the crime fiction community for work in the previous year (2012). This year’s nominations will be selected by the attendees of last year’s event in Cleveland, and registered attendees for Albany. There are five categories: best novel, best first novel, best paperback original, best short story, and best critical/non-fiction. Nominating ballots for the 2013 Anthony Awards have been e-mailed to most eligible voters. New registrations (through the end of April) will receive ballots as their registration is processed. Free alcohol and food?!?!?!
I've been reading William Kennedy to get ready.
Hi Jack & John,
I guess I don't have any excuse not to go this year. The drive for me is only about 2.5 hours. I used to be a Heineken man. Now I enjoy Sierra Nevada Porter of all things. Tough to get some places, so I'll have to bring it with me.
Best,
Jed
Three is a good start. CrimeSpace hour at the bar.
Jed, you can count on several free servings of Sierra Nevada Porter in September. I'm going to be at Bouchercon, and I'm buying.
Thanks, Chuck. I'm looking forward to it.
New Dan Marlowe novel is coming out in paper and ebook Memorial Day.
Best,
Jed
Cool! Congratulations, Jed.
