I am a psychotherapist and mystery writer. I live in a small town in northern Wisconsin with my husband, two children and assorted animals. I love the idea of this community!
I operated a private Christian counseling practice out of a church in a small town near where I live. Loved doing that, but came to a point where I needed a bit of a break and decided to pursue my writing.
I also help my husband run his construction company so between that and the children I manage to keep pretty busy.
I have a completed mystery called "The Twelfth Step" that has been taken on by an agent- Janet Benrey of Benrey Literary Agency- and am about half way through the first draft of the sequel. I hope to begin re-writes on Twisted Truths by mid-summer. I was very excited when The Twelfth Step progressed to Finalist stage in the Malice Domestic/St. Martin's contest for this year. I hope to keep the momentum going with that ms. Wish me luck!

Thanks for the friending. The first chapter of The Twelfth Step hooked me. What a great idea, hanging a murder story on that dreaded 4th Step. Can't wait to read the whole thing.
Thanks for the invite. Northern Wisconsin? I have a cabin in the U.P.---ever been there? I spend summers there, writing the next major since novel since Anatomy of a Murder.
Hi Donna…Good luck with your book, "The Twelfth Step." I'm from Southern California, only been to Wisconsin a couple of times...burrrr....Thanks for adding me to your list.
Hi, Donna-- thanks for the add. As for Wisconsin, my wife is from northern Wisconsin, and we met and married in Duluth, MN. We live in my native state of Georgia, now, but I can still remember my glasses freezing to my nose in winter one night. Brrrrr!
Donna,
I'm belatedly catching up with the folks who have dropped by my page. Thanks for stopping in. Many good wishes for your works-in-progress. Some of your favorite authors fall on my list, too ... especially the last.
I used to live in Madison WI. Loved it. The northern part of WI is especially beautiful!! Thanks for the request and best wishes on your writer's journey.
Hi Donna... another House and American Idol fan! (No shame in the latter, honestly). The Twelfth Step is such a brilliant title - hope to read it someday. Thanks for friending me.
Hi Donna, Good to be a friend. One of the great things about belonging to crime writing communities is how people who ought to be competitors are always generous with help, encouragement and all the rest. Good luck with the agent and the works (completed and in progress).
Thanks for the invitation, Donna. I'm also a crime novelist and a Christian - it's kind of an odd mix, isn't it? Crime writers are assumed to walk on the dark side, whereas Christians tend to be light, upbeat folk who focus on the positive.
However, I find that the two sides are not as irreconcilable as people thing. I think in the big picture, all crime stories have the same plot: chaos intrudes into the world, and a protagonist has to chase it out. To me, that's a very positive story...
Greetings from a Brit living in France who knows (a bit) and loves (a lot) the US. Currently struggling with a French translation of a mystery story I completed last year, tying in a mysterious death on today's Breton coast with Resistance skulduggery in 1944.
Thanks for friending me.
Nury, I think it is only the public's perception of crime writers as walking on the dark side.
I've met Lisa Gardner and Tess Gerritsen and you wouldn't look twice at them in the grocery store. No evil vibes coming off either of them.
