Profile Information

Hometown:
Glasgow, Scotland
About Me:
I was born at an early age and led a sheltered childhood in a small English village. A crime fiction fan from a young age, I wanted to be one of Enid Blyton's Famous Five and fight crime with the aid of only a basket of cucumber sandwiches and a bottle of ginger beer. I spent my spare time following mysterious strangers around the village - especially those with cockney accents and a couple of days' growth of stubble - until a complaint from the new local vicar put a stop to my sleuthing career. I then decided I wanted to be Nancy Drew - I coveted her cool friends, her dashing boyfriend, her understanding father and her lovely car. Sadly, after re-reading one recently I discovered that either Nancy or I had changed - she was a pompous prig, her friends were whiny and self absorbed, her father was uncaring and her boyfriend was a wet drip. I still liked the car though.

I now live in Glasgow, where I havea thrilling dual career as a mild-mannered pension consultant by day, and an unemployed superhero by night. For relaxation I listen to Dean Martin, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Ramones, and enjoy salsa, cha cha cha and merengue - despite having two left feet

It's A Fair Cop, Guv

Today the police turned up at my door. Again. Now, I don't know about you, but whenever a policeman turns up at my door and says "Are you Donna Moore?" I always start to panic. Of course, it's to be hoped that a policeman isn't going to turn up at your door and say "Are you Donna Moore?" That's an altogether different problem. My immediate response is to think a) Oh my God what's happened to everyone I love, followed swiftly by b) What the hell have I done? and sometimes c) Has someone sent me a… Continue

Needless To Say...I Cried

But first...Donna Messes Up.

So, last night I finally got back to Aniak after being fog-bound in Kalskag. Before we left, all the teachers left me in the school in Kalskag to answer the phone (so, Ewan, you were right - first I was a pilot, yesterday afternoon I was a teacher's assistant (one of the teaching assistants didn't turn up so I got to spend all afternoon with one class). I read to them, helped them with maths (oh-oh - the poor kids are going to fail their next test, and drew a pictur… Continue

Still waiting for Paying for It to arrive, but I'm looking forward to it. I'm sure TB will get a lot of attention this year. He's under the radar in London right now.

parental units. Bah.

‘Sons of Anarchy’ is by some of the same people (Kurt Sutter’s the show runner, who was one of the principal writers on The Shield for several years, I believe he even played a character who ended up getting capped by everyone’s favorite cop killer at one point.)

Improbably, he maintains a blog: www.sutterink.blogspot.com

Oh, man …don’t. my folks are soapaholics, they literally spend the evening skipping from Hollyoaks to Neighbors to emmer dale to Coronation Street to …you get the idea.

Yeah, I think ‘The Devil’s Redhead’ is my favorite too, although I think the international incident aspect towards the end is a bit ..wonky. (Honestly, I think both of the later books are better, but Redhead remains my favorite.) REALLY looking forward to his new one.

Hi Donna,

I see that you’re a fan of David Corbett too. I’m re-reading his stuff at the moment, makes a pleasant diversion from all this ‘wholesome’ Christmas TV (Bah Humbug etc.)

Hi Donna-Did we ever settle on a day for your book review? Keeping track of these things is making me feel scattered. If it's become a problem for you timewise, we can postpone indefinitely. Thanks, Patti
