I'm primarily an author, but I enjoy working in business, too. My husband and I buy closeouts from major U.S. manufacturers and resell them to discount stores. When the dollar stores gained popularity years back, U.S. manufacturers couldn’t compete with the off-brand imitations being sold for a…

At a recent author event, an audience member asked me how I keep upbeat when most of my writing revolves around troubled souls who get into trouble. The most obvious answers come to mind. I have a husband who pulls me away from the computer. I have kids to attend to. I have a great group of friends to have fun with. The most honest answer, however, comes from deep within. Simply put: I don't think delving into darkness is a bad thing.
Have you ever met someone who you know…

Thanks, Laurie, for the friendship! And Congrats on your book being published!
Here's hoping that sales and reviews will be 'way up there! So much work, I'm sure, on your part has put your name on bookstore shelves -- that's the kind of "shelving" that you celebrate!
Feel good about yourself, and thanks again!

Greetings and salutations to you, Laurie; thank you for the friend invite!
Glad to add west coast friends. I used to visit frequently but am traveling as much now. I still consider it God's country with the exception of center city LA. And I know most of your wines personally!
Good luck with your new book.
Thanks for befriending me and congrats on your book. My debut crime novel THE TRAZ was released in 2011. Bikers/blood/drugs. A girl/a man/and the law. Yes, people wonder about me, too!
I'm planning a Spring 2012 release of the sequel. I also have a sci-fi novella out: Schrodinger's Cat
Thanks for your friendship Laurie.
Hi Laurie,
Welcome to Crime Space. I'm also new on this site as well, but you must know that. Relative to the comments about your writing style - I've had some folks who have read my book try to judge me by my novel(s). However, they know me much better than that...or do they?
Seriously, we don't have to be murderers to write about them...it just takes some imagination. Keep going, keep going and they will be the first to display your autograph.
Regards, and thanks for making me a friend.
Dick
Thanks for adding me as a friend - all best wishes for your book.
Northridge, yes. Home of the big '94 earthquake (it's only claim to fame -- that and the gourmet food truck fest that happens every weds and friday evenings near CSUN -- too fun!)
Depending on traffic, Northridge is an easy enough drive to Pomona. It just depends on how often the cultural writers group will meet.
I will be attending Left Coast Crime and would love to meet my fellow crime/mystery/psycho-thriller writers.
Laurie,
Northridge, huh? Will you be attending Left Coast Crime in Sacramento next year?
There's a college professor in Pomona pulling together a cultural writers group. Not sure how far that is from you. Northridge is LA area--right?
