Great Review of THE GATEKEEPER from the IMBA

This means a lot to me, since it comes from an organization near and dear to my heart. They select a few books a month to promote, and The Gatekeeper was one of them!

Here's the review, and a link to it:

Who better to pick the best mystery books of the month than the people who run mystery bookstores?

Each month, the 40-odd quirky stores that make up IMBA submit their favorite recent reads to a rotating editor who then… Continue

Stephen King, Dan Brown as Howard Hughes, and missed opportunities...

Not too long ago I was watching a primetime television show, as I am wont to do. And lo and behold, there was a commercial for the next Stephen King novel. It contained all of the bells and whistles of a movie trailer, and made those book trailers put together by authors on their own dime (mine, for instance) look woefully inadequate in comparison.

Which got me thinking: what an enormous wasted opportunity...read the rest… Continue

Title Trauma

Share the laughter and tears of my recent title search here

Excerpt: A few weeks ago my new editor (which bears discussion in a later post, the revolving door aspect to the editor/author relationship these days) announced that she no longer liked the title for my next book. Neither did anyone else at the publishing house, apparently. The words "it induced grimaces at the editorial meeting" were… Continue

Early Endorsements for “A Circle of Souls”

Linda Fairstein, NYT Bestselling Author: "A fascinating debut - this novel takes the reader to the darkest places in the human soul, from a writer with the authenticity to lead us there. A stunning thriller and an important read."

Judge Judy Sheindlin, star of the Judge Judy Show: "The seminal work of this fine author kept me glued to my chair until the adventure was over and the mystery solved. A great read!"

Book Synopsis:

The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.

The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
In this stunning psychological thriller, innocence gives way to evil, and trust lies forgotten in a web of deceit, fear, and murder.

Michelle. same here, pretty much. Don't panic. Just take it one thing at a time, you'll do fine. I'm revising #5 in my own series, writing a script based on #2, and working on #6. In my spare time, I work full time and stuff like that. Keep it together. You're in charge.

Lol. Jobs? Oh, boy. Well, I've been a bass player, bartender, Corrections Officer, piano player, pulp wood hauler, Online Editor, guitar player, Editor of Theses and Dissertations, private investigator, English tutor, shoveled sand in a furnace, AT&T Operator, made yarn in a mill, tank mechanic, and other odious manual labors too numerous and spiteful to include. You get the picture.

Okay, I have to ask...Russian Supper Club performer? AndI thought my resume was interesting. I remember one particularly fated night, it was pouring rain, me and one other guy were unloading relief helicopters as they came in to New Orleans, I was telling him all the jobs I'd ever done, and out of the blue, he says, "Lemme guess, you're a writer." I just had to smile. Best wishes, Down in Dixie, Tim

Hello Michelle,

I guess it can turn into overload. I write fiction as well. They are usually the short stories that I submit to try keep the muse flowing and improve my writing. I enjoy the fiction as well as a good scare but the short stories challenges my creativity so it works for me. Do you write in other genres as well?
