I'd rather wake up in the middle of nowhere, than in any city on earth.

True Story

We never had a chance.

The sun was just going down and it was fast becoming a clear, crisp April eve.

“Well, what’ll it be tonight, boys?”

The

question was absurd. The Meg Chittenden-Robert Gregory Browne jello

wrestling pay-per-view was still three hours away, so continuing to

drink was, of course, the order of the evening.

The “boys”

consisted of five: Barry “The Hair” Eisler; a little too good looking,

a little too… Continue

Oh, yeah, I just happened to think about something anyone who likes Miami Vice should see. Maybe you've already seen a 2006 documentary called 'Cocaine Cowboys?" It was directed by a good friend of my younger son who died. The guy went to school with him, his name is Billy Corben. In fact I last saw him at my son's memorial service. It is the real thing with original news footage. Not to be missed.

Goodness Gracious,

Paul, I didn't mean to profane the sacred Vice. I wear polyester in pastel colors as a sign of my humility while I watch the episodes. On the other hand I see you are a Peckinpah fan and I love all of his stuff. And I take 'School of Rock,' 'Enter the Dragon,' and 'Fargo' seriously, deadly seriously. And Steve McQueen, forget about it, the Man was Larger than Life. And I thought I was one of the few who remembers 'Thief'...."My ex-wife, rocket scientist that she is...."Thanks for the communique .

Nope, the cover didn't arouse me, although a lot of HARD CASE CRIME'S covers do. It was a Shamus winner. I'm a sucker for those Shamuses, having been nominated a couple of times. (One story, one novel.)

Thanks for contacting me, I went into hibernate mode with deadlines. And I'll be there for a bit longer. Ugh.

I haven't heard of the yahoo group. When you get a sec, more details would be appreciated! It would rock if they picked Hallowed Ground to read. Heck, it would rock if anyone read HG....

Willingham? Showed some gumption in 2006 for a while, but he backed off. He's gonna have to lose that "deer in the headlights" look when he gets on the back of a bull and find the "I don't give a shit if I die, just let me ride the goddamn bull for 8 seconds" look that Mr. Perfect - aka Mr. Justin McBride has :)

I'm picking my boy Justin again for 2009 - place your bet, partner

Paul...we miss you out here as well. The MWA chapter went through a very rough period but seems to have stabilized and found new energy under Les Klinger's leadership. My last Justice novel, Rhapsody in Blood, somewhat on the lighter siee, was out last year. Spider Season, back to darker, will be out late next year. Hope the family is well. Good holidays!

Hi, Paul...How's St. Louis treating you? Now that you're idled by the strike, it's time to get that novel finished. Nice to hear from you after so long. Hope things are well.

One of the great films of all time. Lithgow should've been nominated. Dr. Emilio Lizardo was a tough, tough role.
