National Hispanic Heritage Month--and Reminiscing

From September 15 to October 15 the nation will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. I'm not sure when the holiday started or rather, when the nation decided to acknowledge it, but for as long as I can remember, there was always a celebration in my hometown, Port Arthur. (okay, technically it started around the time I turned six.)

Every third weekend in September my family (and I mean everyone in my family) would attend a three day "Mexican Fiesta" held by the Mexican Heritage Society in… Continue

It's time for a divorce

No, I don't mean my marriage is breaking up, heck we just celebrated 15 years what would be the point? I mean I need to divorce my current work in progress....actually I just need to divorce a chapter...but I can't seem to make myself do it.

See, that's my problem. I'm so married to my words I can't make myself delete them all together. I have three "deleted scene" folders for this current work because when I'm writing I just let the words and scenes flow. But then when I go back and…

The Woman Doth Procrastinate too Much

Seems like lately I'll do anything to not write. It's not like I don't have anything to work on. I have a wip that is supposed to be done by end of May, revisions on two books (that have no real time line), a synopsis to write for a future book and another book to begin--synopsis already done for it, luckily

But, when I turn on my computer, the first thing I want to do is play Spider Solitaire. Call it a ritual to get my brain going....It used to be Scrabble but the disc is scratched…

Okay Okay I'm blogging

When I open my Crimespace page (which for some reason I keep reading as CrimeSpree) there's this big, pale yellow box telling me I haven't posted a blog yet...so...Okay...I'm blogging.

Now, if you came by to see if I have anything deep and meaningful to talk about you might as well count this as ten minutes you'll never get back...or however long it will take to read. I guess I just don't "get" the whole blogging thing. I'd rather talk to a live…

Thanks for sneaking by my page, Terri. I hope life is treating you well. I'm up to my eyeballs in copy edits and new material, so I'm laying low and hating not being able to visit Crimespace and Myspace more. But life is good. Have a good week.

Hi, Terry,
Of course. If there's anything I can advise on, or help in any way, where my books or experience might qualify me, don't hesitate to ask.
Best,

David
