I started keeping track of my reading a little over two years ago. In 2007 I read 107 books, including all types, and of those 44 were mysteries. In 2008 I read 120 books with 70 of those being mysteries. I am chronically ill and have plenty of read…

I live in in the Mojave Desert, in southern Nevada, very near Death Valley in the USA, and I worry about rattlesnakes nesting on the property. A neighbor was bitten and now has a maimed hand, and someone else had a finger amputated because of a spid…

As ex-faculty, ex-wife of faculty, and life-time student, I can say that one of the benefits of sitting for hours in the hallowed halls is to know the prof. I would be delighted to have the teacher's book -- it was sometimes the reason I signed up f…

Profile Information

Hometown:
Pahrump, Nevada, USA
About Me:
Started out as a university librarian, did not like it, and went into editing and feature writing for the military, feeding area newspapers with accounts of special programs, awards, etc. Edited in-house publications and some memoirs. Responsible for one major publication on Architectural History of an area in the Rio Grande Valley. Frustrated mystery writer and currently not writing, but can not stop thinking about it. Architecture and Art History are my strong points. Degrees in Anthropology and Libray Science, minored in History. Retired early because of chronic illness.
I Am A:
Reader, Writer, Librarian, Editor
Books And Authors I Like:
Way too many to list. Started out with Mark Twain and William Faulkner before I went so heavily into mysteries. Most recent discoveries are David Wiltse and Tim Dorsey. Dick Francis and Tony Hillerman are comfort reads. I try to read widely although my heart belongs in the hard boiled, lots of bodies, category.
Movies And TV Shows I Like:
I like trash.

I selected it because it was about Johnson Johnson, a portrait painter, as was Dunnett, and because it was set in Morocco. I have never been there but I did live two years in another part of the Middle East.

Hi Mary
I tried to stop writing crime stories once too (out of frustration) but it was an unhappy time. I realize now that I can live with frustration, but not without storytelling. I hope you make peace with it...or start writing again!
