SILENT COUNSEL Tour - September 19
Borders
Scarsdale, NY
Let’s face it. Summer’s almost gone. There aren’t too many beautiful, sunny days left in the season, so the magnificent weather on Wednesday afternoon made the drive out to Scarsdale a treat. The only thing that would have made it better would have been to be on my motorcycle—but that is, most unfortunately, “in the shop.” (Know what a GPS looks like after coming loose from its mount at 75—er, I mean 65–MPH on the Garden State Parkway? Neither do I, really. Lots of teeny, tiny pieces.)
But, I digress. The drive to Borders was great, even if it was in a car. And once there, Joe Reutershan made me feel right at home in the Borders Cafe. In the short time since Silent Counsel’s release, something I’ve known for a while is getting some strong reinforcement: Booksellers and readers are just plain friendly.
The afternoon was relaxed, and I appreciated the time I had to chat with those who had come in to enjoy a little afternoon snack. (I guess I wasn’t the only one who appreciated the weather; there was a sizable contingent playing hooky from work!)
Thanks, Joe, for your hospitality.
