Profile Information

Hometown:
NYC
About Me:
Noir Nation aims to create a journal of crime fiction supported by an interactive community-building Web site. The Web site will also feature short original works of film noir.

The magazine will be professionally edited and designed so that readers can engage immediately with the writing and art and the ideas they convey rather than having to overcome natty typos and badly formatted paragraphs that slow the velocity of their enjoyment.

Why crime noir? There is currently no periodic publication on an international scale satisfying readers' hunger for works of well-wrought literary fiction that explore the dark side of human experience, and that does so while pursuing its own aesthetic ends, rather than the legitimate but sometimes competing interests of the marketing departments of commercial publishing houses.

Update on the banned Google Ad

Noir Nation has won a victory over the Google algorithm. A human AdWords specialist at Google determined that we were not in violation. No reason was given, yet it seems that our initial suspicion was correct: the SYSTEM determined we were in violation of Google policy. Google has reinstated our account, but we missed a couple peak weeks of advertising and possibly sales due to the "mistake".

In The Castle, Franz Kafka wrote about the faceless system.  You don't get much more…

Authoritarian Google Algorithm

Anyone had this rather kafkaesque experience with Google's authoritarian algorithms? We had a Google ad, then took it down to update it, then got a reply that contained this:

"It has come to our attention that your Google AdWords account does not comply with our Terms of Service and Advertising Policies. As a result, your account and any related accounts have been suspended, and your ads will no longer run on Google. Please be aware that you are prohibited from possessing or…

Hi, Alan

I haven't been here for a long time. But If you could tell me when the next reading will be, I will spread to my friends who write crime stories.

Best regards,

Spasimir

Thanks for the add. I love the concept of Noir Nation and pump my fist that a periodical must be created.

Thanks for inviting me, but I'm not to sure if I have much to offer. I do write thrillers, but not with all the gory details, well at least not yet, contemplating, I did work for a Criminal Attorney as well as The Bellevue Police Department...maybe that's a pull.

Thanks again for opening my eyes. Augie
