Progress

Hard to believe it has been nearly two months since my brush with crime but I think I have finally turned the corner. I'm sleeping better and not jumping over every strange noise. I do believe it is time to break the addiction to http://icanhascheezburger.com/ and get to reading again!

What does a reader do when she doesn't want to read?

I read. A lot. I have all my life. I always have a book or three going - generally mysteries. And since joining Crimespace I've got a huge stack of new books and authors to dive into. But ever since my brush with real life crime a few weeks, reading about crime doesn't seem so entertaining.

I don't know, maybe what I need is a funny crime story - but does such a thing even exist?

Crime

I was sound asleep up til about 12:45 a.m. when knocking on my bedroom door woke me. I opened it expecting it to be my daughter with a bad dream. Instead found two police men guns drawn and flashlights shining in my face who told me the back door was wide open and the house alarm was blaring. (The panel for that is in the kitchen and really can't be heard upstairs in the bedroom. A call will be placed shortly to remedy that. )

So I stumbled down stairs with them to see what was…

Bike

bike (noun)

The vehicle used to whisk you away from the blahs and the blah-blah-blahs to moments of really living.

(Such a fitting definition I stole it from the REI category. <g>)

on growing old

You know it is a sad thing when you reach the stage where you have to parent your own parent. If you are lucky this is a person whom you have looked up to your whole life. Really for me my mom was my first real life hero. She was strong and independent in a time when moms, and women in general, were not. Yes she got married and had kids but that did not, in and of itself, define her. And when that marriage ended she taught me more about grit, determination and strength than anyone every…

Hi Kat,

Thought I'd drop by and say hello from an (unusually) warm and sunny England.

Best regards

Brian

Hi Lynette - it is my very great pleasure to be here and pick up some insights from some of my favorite kinds of people - writers. I look forward to learning some of the process that goes into creating my favorite kind of book.

Hi Kat. A grandchild is the only thing sweeter than a sleeping kitty. I'm so glad my two grandchildren and my cat get along so well. And thanks for being here. If it weren't for readers, there would be no need for writers.

Ah well I have migrated out to the western suburbs - don't hold that against me. Still a couple of mountains in the landscape would be nice.

Hi, Kat! Just doing a quick howdy here. So...from Chicago, huh? I lived there (Evanston until I couldn't afford the rent & then Roger's Park) for several years before moving out West.

Welcome to Crimespace!
