Early reviews of my new stand-alone suspense novel Island Life are coming in. Check them out. The novel comes out in March, 2008, from Five Star. “Beautifully written and richly nuanced, Island Life by Michael W. Sherer transcends the usual suspense tale. No one will be able to resist rooting for Jack Holm as he fights for his son, his daughter, and ultimately his own soul when his wife is found dead and he's arrested for the crime. Full of insider details and psychological insight, this taut tale takes the reader into the darkest recesses of the human heart. Sherer is an artist, and his work is powerful.” —Gayle Lynds, New York Times bestselling author of The Last Spymaster “In a shift from his Emerson Ward mysteries (Death is No Bargain, 2006, etc.), Sherer creates a suspenseful tale of a family stressed by the conflicts murder reveals.” —Kirkus Review

Island Life is a terrific novel of a tortured husband doing his best to deal with a missing wife and his therefore motherless children. Michael W. Sherer is a seasoned pro who adopts a fascinating narrative voice: While the plot is developed through the first-person voice of Jack Holm, the reader is provided back-story through short prelude scenes of Jack with his psychotherapist, trying to work through why his wife might have left her family. A truly different and fascinating story.” —Jeremiah Healy, author of Turnabout and The Only Good Lawyer

Book Video

Hey, everybody, please check out my new book video. Like many here, I'm essentially computer-illiterate, and therefore justifiably proud that I actually produced and posted this video trailer without help from my technically savvy kids.

Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Book Covers

Wow! Just saw the artwork of the cover of my latest book (out in March, 2008). Not only did my publisher take my suggestions and use the artwork I suggested; they made it better.

Check it out on my page. Tell me what you think.

Thanks, Mike

The Remainder Table...And Shameless Self-Promotion

A sad fact of publishing is that books go out of print. These days that happens rather quickly unless you’re She-Who-Is-Named-All-Too-Often or Stephen King or—well, you know. And when books go out of print, publishers first try to sell the inventory they have on hand at cut-rate pr

Marketer's Dilemma

The hardest part of our job as writers is to become known, to connect with our readers or potential readers. No matter how big or small your publisher, your marketing budget has finite limits. With small publishers, though, it’s particularly difficult—not only doesn’t the publisher pay for much in the way of publicity or promotion, but advances are so small that it’s difficult to decide where to spend that hard-earned

Life's Mysteries

Okay, so here's what I really want to know. Daniel created this great place to meet, blog, swap stories, etc. I've recently been the benefactor of other generous acts. A fellow Five Star author has recently created pages on MySpace and HabitualReader for us. I even have my own page on MySpace as well as a web site for my mysteries. What I want to know is if it's so easy for us authors to find each other on these sites, how do we get readers to find us as well? When I look at all the "friends" I…

Hi, Michael! I am so honored that you have invited me to be your friend here on "Crime Space" and I look forward to getting to know you better. Congratulations on your new book, "Island Life!" Now that I know who you are and what your books are all about (they sound awesome, by the way!), I'm going to be sure to read them as soon as possible and let you know what I think. I believe it's important to always support your friends and now that you're a new friend of mine, please feel free to call on me if you need me, ok? Talk to you soon. Thanks again, ~Cynde

Thank you Michael W. Sherer's for the friend list invitation. I like your website and see that you are on the same reader/writer path on earth that I investigate as well. Many speculate that my specialist field as an investigator lends my energy more toward humanities chances that we may catch a break and actually make it past 2012 and my sharing information with online seekers is a way of sharing knowledge with others. This Crimespace, a place for readers and writers of crime fiction to meet, I hope will welcome my type of crimespace genre writing of future crimes. My husband is Thomas Morris and he is also a wellknown artist and writer. He concentrates on military crimes and spy novels. But, we both have an eclectic lifestyle and write as a passion. Thank you for inviting me to this website. I salute you and recognize you as a fellow reader/writer.
I also do biographies and enjoy UFOlogy as a writer's craft/investigations of trace evidence.
