TJ Perkins has been around for 6 years and her books are steadily becoming more and more popular. In 2006 she signed with dark ride manufacturer Alterface to bring her idea of a scary family amusement park ride to life. The storylines of her most popular book, Mystery of the Attic, and its sequel, On Forbidden Ground, are the basis for the ride. Currently, Alterface is in the creation process. A prototype should be completed and ready for presentation to park owners by Nov 2007 at IAAPA. Once a…

We're back! Had a great time on hols, once we'd finished with the rainy days. And in fact even they weren't bad either.
Holiday highlights included:
1. Lord H's comment that if people simply pressed the "off" button on the wind turbines, then everything would be much calmer. Not sure he's got the hang of what a wind turbine does. (I love 'em, by the way. They're soooo elegant - like giraffes in Prada).
2. Playing on the only hilly golf course in the whole of…

Hello All,
This week, some nice publisher people (whose lists I am obviously on by mistake, but shhhhhhhhhh, I won't tell them if you won't!) have sent me some of my favourite books. Since I already own multiple copies of all these books, and keeping them would just be greedy, I thought I would offer them here. If you would like one, please send me a little message thingy and let me know which one (it's a tough choice, you can claim multiple ones if you like) I only have one copy of…

I'm one of those people who is impossible to buy for. I have to make lists for people, but often I have no idea what I want, myself. Other than writing time, and no one wants to believe that that is ALL I want. I don't quite understand - if I ask for it, I must want it, right? - but whatever.
So I asked for things for Christmas, but ended up returning them because 1) they weren't quite what I needed (yes, I'm also one of those people who only asks for necessary things) and 2) we were…

Back in the day, when albums were only 40 minutes long and came on vinyl in fold-out cardboard sleeves (cue brief pause for nostalgic reminiscence among the over-40s), people used to talk about That Difficult Third Album. That was the one a band had to make when it had run out of all its original material, was burned out from being on the road and had to deliver No.3 to satisfy the record company, usually within about 18 months of their debut.
Then CDs came along and albums were…

Several years ago, while sitting in a college magazine writing class, the professor instructed us to “write what you know.” What student/writer hasn’t heard those words? I remember thinking if that were the case, I would never write.
I’ve had a good life; married for nearly three decades,…

While I'm signing books Saturday I will also be indulging my sweet tooth, but in a fairly healthy way. You can too, and support a good cause, by joining me at the Strawberry Festival put on by the Catonsville Presbyterian Church from 10 am to 2 pm. Sure, they will have a variety of food, live music, kid's games and crafts, but the reason to be there is for some of the best strawberry shortcake you ever tasted.
Of course, this is a fine opportunity to fill out your… Continue

Just back from a mini-break in (of all places) Marbella. I say mini-break because, according to the wife, it doesn't become a holiday until you are away for more than 5 nights - I wish I'd understood this subtlety when I booked it, as apparently this means we still need to go away again on a "proper" family vacation! More money...
Anyway, technically speaking we weren't in Marbella, but down the road in Puerto Banus… Continue

After two years in print, I finally got a HOODTOWN review in
Wrestling Observer! I finally feel legit.
Best line:
“This is a book, if a group of us were to read together, would undoubtedly elicit that spontaneous chant,
This is Awesome!”
I know maybe three people out there will get that but I’m tickled pink. After all, they could be chanting “You fucked up!”
