It’s fall, and time for a new issue of LLBartlett’s Books newsletter. Welcome to the readers new to the list--thanks for joining!

Of course the BIG news is that today marks the debut of the paperback version of MURDER ON THE MIND. HOW I GOT PUBLISHED

Howigotpublished I think I mentioned...about a million years ago...that I was invited to participate in an anthology titled How I Got Published. Well, until a few days ago, I didn't know if my essay would be included in the final cut.

Guess what. It was!…

D'oh!

Homer_bigdoh Sometimes I feel like Homer Simpson. I forgot what I'm doing or what I'm thinking as fast as I'm doing it. I'll walk into the kitchen and wonder what the hell I'm doing there. Then I have to smack myself in the head and go "D'oh!"

I had a "D'oh!" moment this morning. I hadn't realized my friend Deb Baker had a book out this month. It's the second in her Yooper…

What's wrong with this picture?

Glock A gun.

That's what's wrong.

That someone, without a felony can, in almost every county in this country, go out and buy a gun and then use it to kill 32 innocent people.

Okay, I've been silent for a long time, afraid to voice a real opinion lest I offend any of my readers, but if haven't made the connection that it really is guns that kill people, not just…

Hi L.L., I thought I'd stop by now that I have some clue how things work on Crimespace. Interesting that you list Dick Francis first in the authors you like. He was my favorite for several years, and it was from him I learned how to write an opening scene. Wow, two books under two names out in 2008? Wjen is 2008? That should be interesting. I have two in different genres due out in Sept. Both mystery/thrillers but one a sequel to a book with a recovering alcoholic sleuth who owns a parking garage in LA, the other a historical set against the backdrop of the Civil War in New Mexico. That's bad enough! Cheers and best of luck....
