Social Networks by Margot Justes

I will be the first to admit the social networks are a mystery to me.

They are the way to get your name out there, wherever out there happens to be. That magical special entity that will get your book noticed, name recognition established, word of mouth will travel in that magical land of space and suddenly you've gone viral. Sort of like a virus but in a good way.

Facebook, Goodreads, CrimeSpace and Twitter are the primary sources of sharing quick bits of your life,…

Michael Oher I Beat The Odds

The week is winding down and we are still blazing a hot trail here @ Gelati’s Scoop. We had a fun interview this morning with Laurie Bowler, the vampire/paranormal/romance author of Moon Rising, Across the City and many other novels. Please check our archives for the post we had on those novels. Non-fiction is not something I pick up too often, but when I see something inspirational like this, it just seems to jump into my hand. Have you seen the movie, ”The Blind Side”? Yeah, this is the…

Trouble Placing Crime Flash Non-Fiction Piece

Among the 9 million or so side projects I've got going on, I'm trying to find a home for a piece of flash non-fiction. Not looking for money, but more just a place to publish the damn thing and get it out of my head. The places I've considered and/or submitted to fell into one of these categories:

1) Doesn't do crime flash non-fiction, only literary.

2) Charges a fee for considering the piece.

3) Likes the piece, wants it much…

More Reviews for THE FIRES OF THE GODS

After the starred review from PUBLISHERS WEEKLY, I'm a bit spoiled.  These aren't starred, but very nice anyway.

Booklist and Kirkus have spoken.  I'd like to share them, but the site won't let me copy and paste.  You may see them on my Amazon site for THE FIRES OF THE GODS.

(Blogging is beginning to be an impossibility here. Bummer!)

For Arabs: democracy, then crime fiction

Crime fiction may not be the first thing on the minds of the protesters taking to the streets for democracy across the Arab world. But one of the offshoots of the downfall of Arab dictators is sure to be an explosion of thrillers and mysteries.

Until now there has been almost no crime fiction written in Arabic. A couple of little-known writers in Egypt and Morocco have…
