This forum is quite an honor. All of the people on the panel were involved in some way with Gerard Schaefer - This forum in in conjunction with National Victim's Week.

Win an autographed copy of More Deaths Than One by Pat Bertram (her very first autograph!) and your choice of two other titles from
Second Wind Publishing .
The premise:
A friend of Pat Bertram’s found an obituary in the paper that could have been for his mother — the woman had the same name, lived in the same general area, was the same age, had the same number of children, and one of the children had approximately the same…

Good day, friends:
I am working on a true crime anthology with the International Thriller Writers and looking for some top notch true crime writers who might be willing to contribute a "thrilling" original tale with a crime component.
Let me know.
Best,
Barri

This morning, long before the sun rise, I travelled to the BBC studios in Southampton for the Radio Solent Christmas Breakfast Party to celebrate BBC Radio Solent's 100 Lives Project.
BBC Radio Solent's 100 Lives project offers a snapshot of life in the 21st century by following the lives of 100 people over the year. I was chosen as one of the 100 Lives because I live in the Solent area and my marine mystery crime novels featuring Inspector…

Dear Yvonne:
I've just finished Silent Scream, Yvonne. I read your book in one day and I can honestly say it is one of the most incredible, frightening and compelling books I've ever read. And you put my words on the back cover, too! My goodness. I'm so very honored. Thank you for doing that.
You know, when I picked up Silent Scream this morning, I sort of paged through it from the back to the front, as my mother often…

When I first started researching this book- my husband who worked the crime of Georgia Jessup and Susan Place told me he didn't know just how many people would be interested in a 34 year old crime. I told him that I had a feeling about this. So I continued with my quest. As it turned out not only were people interested, but those who worked all of the crimes and are still alive were more than willing to help me with this book.
Since last week…

Working Stiffs)
Nothing exciting ever happens around here…until I go away.
This phenomenon began years ago when we still had horses. Hubby and I took off for the day and went to the Amish country. We had a lovely day. But when we returned home, we learned of what had transpired during our absence. My dad had opened the gate to get something out of the tractor shed and all three…

I have a Sisters in Crime meeting tonight and a dentist appointment tomorrow afternoon, so I have very limited time to get stuff done before leaving on Wednesday.
Over on
Working Stiffs, Wilfred is blogging today about his busy week ahead. I think a lot of us who are headed to Baltimore are feeling the…

Sixteen days until I leave for Baltimore, Maryland and Bouchercon.
Not that I’m counting or anything.
I spent one night away from home this weekend as my friend Lisa Curry and I drove to Rustic (with a capital “R”) Brookville, PA for a Pennwriters Board of Directors Meeting. We make this trip once a year. This will likely be Lisa’s last since she is stepping down from her role as treasurer soon. The motel in Brookville is even more Rustic than the town. But Pennwriters…

Well, at long long last my publisher is going to make me legit and rescue me from the twilight that is ebooks and audiobooks only. He recently informed me via email that he was adding my entire series thus far (five novels) to the paperback print queue. I am cautiously elated. I know what kind of legwork and self-promotion it's going to take from my end, but that's something that I have been prepared to embark on for a long time. I have plans within plans, as Frank Herbert once wrote. In any…

Some people snidely refer to a book as a cozy mystery. Sheila Connolly's One Bad Apple is an example of everything that is right with the cozy mystery. Her book has a likable heroine, an attractive small town setting, a slimy victim, and fascinating side elements. I hope Connolly returns readers to Granford, Massachusetts again.
Meg Corey lost her banking job in Boston in a downsize. She took on the joint ownership of an old house in…

L.L. Bartlett introduced the fascinating character of Jeff Resnick in Murder On The Mind. Now, in Dead in Red, he and his brother, Richard, track a killer, because Jeff won't be satisfied "until justice was done."
When Jeff was mugged and hit by a baseball bat, he injured his head. Now, he has flashes of a "sixth sense" that reveals pictures of events that have happened, and will occur in the future, related to violence and murder. When Tom… Continue

Well, life is full of surprises. Our July 26th interview with
Kathryn Casey was NOT on the air due due to some strange occurance at Outlaw Radio's off-premises web-host -- or some such techno babble. We cleverly recorded the interview just in case -- but the recording ALSO suffered some extraterrestial damage. Go figure. Either forces were conspiring against us, or the delay is all for the best. Ms Casey has bravely decided to return to the show THIS…

I received the nicest note from Les Roberts about my review of King of the Holly Hop, saying I "Got" the book. Yes!
Here's my review.
It's been twenty-three years since I lived in Ohio, so Les Roberts' Milan Jacovich mysteries always take me back. It's been six years since the last book in the series, and even Milan seems to be looking back in King of the Holly Hop. It's a sad book. For Milan, and me, there's no going back to… Continue

Denise Hamilton takes the reader back to Los Angeles, in the heyday of Hollywood, for two violent weeks in 1949 in her first standalone, The Last Embrace. The reader sees the city, and its dangers, through the fresh eyes of Lily Kessler. Her impressions bring the story to life.
Lily was a stenographer and spy for the OSS in Europe. Following the war, she found herself without a job, as so many women were as the men returned. She lost her… Continue

Well the
Crime Writers' Association Awards evening is now over (10 July 2008) and the winner of the Duncan Lawrie Dagger is Frances Fyfield. Well done to Frances. Well done also to Craig Russell who won the Dagger in the Library Award, which, now the hush-hush secrecy is all over and done with, I can reveal that I was nominated for it. OK, so I didn't make the shortlist but I was delighted and excited to get to the long list having not been around in crime…
