Honeymoon for Three is out

My new suspense novel, HONEYMOON FOR THREE, is out. Told from 3 POVs, it features the bride, the groom and the stalker who has a bellybutton fetish. It takes place in some of the most beautiful areas in the Western United States, including national parks and the northern California coast. And let's not forget about Reno and Seattle, although I don't know whether anybody ever called them beautiful. Suspense takes a thrill ride.

I have a cover

And a release date.

My paranormal romantic suspense will be released from Enspiren Press August 1.

Yes, this August.

I'm pretty psyched.

Here's the cover if I can figure out how to put it in here. It will be somewhere on this page.

Look for it!

Happy Day.

Book Flix?

I'm not sure if this is bad news for writers, but I may have found the answer for all my friends who tell me they love to read but don't have another square inch on their bookshelves at home. If you once found movie DVDs crowding you out of your home, you have probably discovered Netflix by now. Booksfree - http://www.booksfree.com/ - does the same thing for paperbacks and audio books. They have more than 96,000 titles, shipping is free both ways and,… Continue

Houston, We Have An Editor!

posted by Jeanne Munn Bracken

Over 20 years ago, I got the call that every writer dreams about. An editor at Oxford University Press was interested in publishing my Children with Cancer: A Reference Guide for Parents. I did the happy dance all over the place. Her name was Shelley Reinhardt, and over the next couple of years we polished off the book and sent it out into the world, where it garnered very nice reviews and is still sort of in print. I drifted into fulltime library…

Why Mysteries?

I asked this question in another forum, but never got a satisfactory answer. What draws us to read mysteries?

For me, mysteries, and particularly mystery series, are the literary equivalents of comfort food. Having a bad day, pick up a mystery. Need to forget that the bills-to-be-paid column is longer than the deposit history on your bank account will ever be? A mystery hits the spot. A mystery and a heaping bowl of extra cheesy mac and cheese, but we won't go there right…

HOW TO TRAVEL IN YOUR PAJAMAS

When I began to write “The Dead Sea Codex,” I realized that I didn’t really want to go back to Israel and risk being blown up by a suicide bomber. So I cheated; I stayed home in Illinois. I used today’s

virtual magic carpet, the Internet. Lucky me—I avoided the purgatory of crowded

airports and multiple gas-powered vehicles to traverse oceans and time zones

only to arrive sleep-deprived, sweat-stained,…

Thinking Small

posted by Doranna Durgin

I have learned to think small, and it is good. "What?" you say? *blink* you say?

Small press, that is. After a career of MMPBs and the occasional hardcover, I've found small press.

It started with Nose for Trouble. NFT was one of those projects that illustrated just how many ways one author can be screwed by many large publishing houses. Initially, submissions were solicited by an editor on a concept…

Review - The Lying Tongue, Andrew Wilson

Title: THE LYING TONGUE

Author: Andrew Wilson

Publisher: Text Publishing

Edition released: July 2007

ISBN: 978-1-84195-941-2

325 pages

Review by: Karen Chisholm

Andrew Wilson is the author of a highly renowned biography of Patricia Highsmith and THE LYING TONGUE is his début novel. In an interesting move, the author starts his first novel with the comment "This is not the book I wanted to write. This is not how it was supposed to be at all." All I can say is if… Continue

What? They pay CASH???

New anthology market:

Notorious Press invites authors to submit short fiction to be

considered for inclusion in the upcoming mystery/crime

anthology HOW'D THEY DO THAT? (temporary title)

edited by Jenifer Nightingale-Ethier. General theme requires

all stories to center on quirky methods of committing

or solving crimes. That’s right - the 'quirky' part can be acts

by either the criminals, the investigators, or both. This…

The Cover Tease

posted by Lorraine Bartlett

Pretty soon (this week?) my first published cozy mystery will be listed on Amazon. The world won't stop revolving--you won't even be able to pre-order it (that happens a few weeks later). But it's a BIG deal to me.

I'm not certain how soon after the announcement they upload the cover, but that's the next BIG step. A few weeks ago, my Writers Plot collegue Doranna Durgin shared her…

Meet me at Waldenbooks!

The malls should be packed with people with time on their hands on the 4th of July this year. Midweek holidays don't allow for leaving town and no one wants to start that barbecue too early. That's why I expect to meet lots of new readers at the Waldenbooks in Landmark Mall that day. I'll start signing my books at 11am and for the first time, a bookstore will have my new thriller, The Orion Assignment, available. Landmark Mall is at 5801 Duke St in Alexandria, VA, and you should… Continue

Sequel to HEADLOCK

Several years ago I wrote a well-reviewed PI mystery, HEADLOCK. It was the first in a series. Sadly, the publisher folded and the sequel, MONKEY TRAP, remains incomplete and unpublished. <sigh> A nice publisher is interested in it, provided I make it less "ADD" -- I get a bit carried away with stories with stories and apparently disconnected digressions that do, actually, connect. So, a re-write is in order. Here is a sample of this "work in suspended animation" -- This is unrevised, in… Continue

So Many Friends

This is just great. I joined Crimespace, and within a couple of days I had all sorts of interesting writers and readers wanting to be my friend. I haven't been this popular since.... actually, I've never been popular. I'm looking forward to reading up on all the authors on Crimespace and finding some great new books to read.

CSI Miami: The Death of Reality

Allow me to preface this post: I do not like Miami. It just happens to be on right now. Again. For the forth time. Or fifth. I've lost count. And how do I know since I hate this cheesy segment of the CSI series? I don't know. That's scary.

On the oft rerun episode of CSI MIAMI tonight (Boavista's sista is kidnapped), the lab had a DNA comparison in less than 60 seconds.

All I have to say about this is ....…
