Death by Explosion?

Hi,

I'm looking to put together a list of crime / mystery novels where bombs or an explosion set the scene.

I'm drawing a bit of a blank. Any ideas?

The Secret Agent by Joseph Conrad
Death Comes for the Fat Man by Reginald Hill

Thanks

A subdued but productive London Book Fair 2010

I’m back from a very subdued London Book Fair caused by the lack of overseas visitors because of the volcanic ash crisis and Europe wide flight ban and one that I doubt anyone who was exhibiting or intending to exhibit will forget. Empty stands and empty aisles were very much in evidence and the International Rights Centre was like a ghost town.…

I'll be at the London Book Fair

April is here and that means one of the major events in the book trade calendar, The London Book Fair, where I will be on 19th and 20th April. It's a great opportunity for me to meet with my overseas Literary Agents from Brazil, Spain and Italy as well as with my publishers of my business books and my crime novels.

According to an article on the Bookseller web…

Learning about the blogosphere through Blog Book Tours

Since the beginning of May, I've been immersed in the online Blog Book Tours course. I've been posting on my blog, Julie Lomoe's Musings Mysterioso, almost daily, and as of today I expect to log 2,000 visits. That's since May lst, not just today. Even so, for me, that's an enormous number, though it's minuscule for some.

The course is demanding, but highly informative for writers who want to maximize their online presence. The next course… Continue

PRICELESS PUBLICITY

Wouldn't it be nice if the writers in this group each had their own publicity agent? Publicity can cost money—but it doesn't have to.

I'm signed up on BookTour.com. This nifty website is the brainchild of three San Francisco authors who use technology to connect authors with audiences.

In 2006, they launched the idea to the world. Authors create a page with their bio, books, and tour dates. Venues looking for speakers list their site on BookTour.

Release Date on MEMOIRS of BEAR: Nueces Means Nuts

MYTHICA PUBLISHING notified me that the release date on my mystery novel MEMOIRS OF BEAR: Nueces Means Nuts has moved from the Coming Soon! status to a real target date. Release of the ebook and print book are scheduled for release on the 15th of June, 2009. I am sure that it won't hit Amazon for a few days later, but that is just the way their stocking system works.

Needless to say I am excited. I have all the jitters, second thoughts and twitches that go along with the… Continue

NEW REVIEWS RECEIVED OF THE EXECUTION OF JUSTICE

As promised, I continue to post REVIEWS of my recently released novel, THE EXECUTION OF JUSTICE.

CY B. HILTERMAN, a Book Reviewer in Cherry Tree, PA gave the novel a FIVE STARS rating at www.amazon.com on May 8, 2009:

"While reading this excellently written story, I felt as though I was beside the police as they performed their daily duties, while on or off duty and trying to keep up a social and family life. I have never read a book that placed me into the life of those… Continue

A Magical London Book Fair 2009

Back from the London Book Fair after two very hectic and productive days. Can’t say it’s the best way to spend two gorgeous hot sunny days in England stuck in a giant air-conditioned hanger in the middle of London but needs must, and it was great to see so many friends in the publishing and bookselling world, and meet people who I’ve connected with on LinkedIn and on Facebook.

The London Book Fair seemed to be buzzing with activity with… Continue

The London Book Fair 2009

The London Book Fair kicks off next Monday and is a great place to learn more about the publishing industry with free seminars and lots of publishers present. For published writers and those wishing to be published it's a good way to research the market and find out who is who. You can pick up new ideas at the fair, make new contacts, check out what kind of titles publishers are publishing and network with other authors, and those in the book business.

Criminal Help!!!

Hello,

I self published my first book on lulu.com. I want to know if any of you can help me bring this book to a broader audience. The book is awesome and it is a definite page turner.

I'm a lawyer with the dubious distinction of having gone to jail, served time and experiencing life as an inmate. I'm building my life again and any help will be so appreciated.

Networking for writers and book signings

I am a believer in writers networking. We are solitary people, sitting often for hours, if not days and weeks, alone with our thoughts, sometimes a blank screen, and an idea. We play God to a world we create and bleed to bring our creation to life. Could God be as lonely as a writer trying to pound out that one true sentence?

I have been a member of Mystery Writers of America (www.mysterywriters.org) since the ‘80s. For the past 12 years, I have belonged to the Florida chapter of MWA and… Continue
